Q: Why is there a delay before the video starts to play?

A: There will always be a delay of some length.  This is occasioned by the necessity of the visitor's computer to load the information for the video.  The video is "streamed" from your server.  This process is known as "streaming video" and only the most advanced and costly websites have videos streamed onto their webpages.  The length of time to load the video into a visitor's computer depends on the length of the video.  Generally, short videos, 1 minute or less are preferable because they take less time to load.

Q: How many videos can play on one page?

A: ONE PAGE CAN CARRY ONE VIDEO.  A page can have up to any number of links to movies, but each movie requires its own separate page.

Q: How do I convert my videos to wmv format?

A:  Record the footage with an analog or (preferably a) digital camcorder.
Transfer the video to a computer using a analog-to-digital converter (for VHS tapes) or a FireWire cable (for miniDV and Digital8 camcorders).
Edit the video to remove the parts you don't want to keep using video editing software such as Pinnacle Studio (PC) or iMovie (Mac).
Export the video into a web-friendly format such as Windows Media.
Place the video on a CD and send to us.

 

Q: Can people using Mac and Netscape and older Windows versions see the videos on my website?

A: Yes. your video viewer pages will supply links to download Windows Media Player for all operating systems.

Q: How long does it take for the process from beginning to online of my new website?

A: For the 7 page site, and if you have your own logo already, and 3 short videos, no photos, it will take three business days for you to receive from us the first design of your new website.  Then, after you authorize us to proceed to finalize the website, this will take approximately another 2 days.  You will acquire a hosting plan at myhosting.com and they take about 24 hours to get your hosting account up and running.  When you notify us that your myhosting.com account is ready, we upload your new site and the entire world can see it instantly.

Q: Do you have different templates? I do not want my site to be a copy of any other person's site.

A: Yes, we have various templates. You may choose your template.  TEMPLATES 

Q: Can I choose the colors used in my website template?

A: Yes, you may choose any 3 or 4 color combination, or we can choose for you.  COLORS

Q: What about a logo for the top of the homepage?

A: If you have a logo, simply email us the URL for your logo.  There is no charge to upload your own already-prepared logo.  If you do not  have a logo which you want to use on your new site, we will custom-design a logo for you.  A logo designed by us for your site costs $95 extra.

Q: In what format should I send my videos to Carolyn?

A: Your videos must be ONLY in .wmv format. WMV stands for Windows Media Viewer.  Simply convert your videos to .wmv format per instructions above, and attach the file, one per email due to your email attachment limitation) and email to: johnmillerz2003@yahoo.com Do NOT send your videos or your video camcorder.  If your videos are too big to be attached to your email, then simply copy them onto a CD and mail the CD in a CD protector envelope to: Carolyn Miller 540 NW 9 Street, Hallandale, Florida  33009. Be sure to include your name, email address and telephone number.  Carolyn will contact you upon receipt of your CD to let you know it arrived safely.

Q: Does Carolyn provide video editing and/or format conversion of videos?

A: No. Carolyn only receives your .wmv format videos and places them to run on your website.

Q: I have my own website; can Carolyn upload my videos to my present website?

A:  Sometimes this may be possible.  Your present web designer may or may not be willing to turn over control of your website so that I can make changes and upload your videos.  If you have built your own website, then the question is: does your web hosting account have enough megs to be able to carry the videos?  Check with your hosting company and your present webmaster or designer. Q: I like my website, I built it myself, and all I want and need to know is HOW TO UPLOAD MY VIDEOS TO MY WEBSITE.  Will Carolyn provide me with this information?

A: Yes, for a cost of only $75.00 Carolyn will email you complete instructions WITH CODE and clear explanation and example of how to upload your own videos to your website.

Q: I do not have any videos for my website at this time; can I substitute still photos?

A: Yes. Up to 10 photos in jpg format only.  You may email your photos, ONE per email attachment, to us and we will insert your photos on the pages you choose.

Q: Can I choose the names of the link pages?

A: Yes.  The basic site has 7 pages, one of which is the Homepage.  You may choose the names for the other six pages.

Q: What if I need extra pages beyond the initial 7 pages? 

A: We will add extra pages for you at the cost of $100.00 per page, which includes uploading one (1) of your video links to the page.  The link goes to a page we build which plays your video.

Q: What if I want more video links?

A: Your basic website includes the upload of three (3) videos. Each EXTRA video uploaded costs $95.00.  Remember, your hosting plan must have enough megs to carry your desired number of videos.  myhosting.com will assist you with upgrading your megs if necessary.  The Basic Plan offered by myhosting.com will permit you to upload approx. 20 SHORT videos.

Q: How do I convert my videos to WMV format?

A:  Your camcorder instruction booklet should have instructions regarding choice of output formats. If not, there are converters for sale online or contact customer service for your particular video camcorder to request conversion instructions.

Q: Can I put still photos of before's and after's on my new website in addition to the 1-2 still photos which will be included on the homepage?

A: Yes. Up to 10 photos, not including the 2 on your homepage, are included in the basic website. If you wish to place more still photos on your site, there is an extra charge for each extra page, if needed, plus $5 per photo.  If you wish, Carolyn can enhance, brighten or put a border around your photos for $5 more per photo.

Q: What about SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION for my website?

A: Included free of charge is Google-approved optimization of your html title tag, keywords tag and description tag.  We do not use "black hat" SEO techniques and we advise you strongly against them, because if Google bans your site due to improper optimization, your site becomes worthless in Google and you would need to start all over with a new website, new domain name and new hosting plan.  Carolyn knows which are the best tags for your business.  Your business name and/or your personal name ARE NOT advised for your tags.  If you insist on these, they will be placed at the end of the metatag. 

Q: What about copyright?

A: You will need to contact the US Copyright Office to register your copyright.

Q: What if I need to update or revise certain parts of my website?

A: Simply email Carolyn and let her know what you need and she will let you know the cost for the revisions and/or updates.

Q: Can I or another webmaster copy Carolyn's form pages and make new pages on my website?

A: Yes, because the website contents belong to YOU. You have control of your hosting at all times.  You or your webmaster can make any desired changes.
