Now, what are some ways we can personally suggest that you can use to lower stress and anxiety in your life?

1. Make lists of what you need to do. A list keeps you focused and lowers stress because you know what you need to accomplish.

2. LEARN TO SAY NO (in a nice way, of course) WHEN PEOPLE ASK YOU TO DO THINGS FOR THEM THAT YOU WOULD RATHER NOT DO AND/OR YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DO.  You could say to them: "I just really don't have the skills to help you." Or: "I don't feel I should intrude on your privacy." Or: "Right at this moment, I have to take care of a family matter, but I hope to be able to help you in the FUTURE." Then hope they never call again for help.

3. When people are complaining to you about something, you can say: "Yes, I understand, I understand..." This avoids your engaging in analysis of their problems.  They will quickly turn to others if all you can offer is to say that you "understand".

4. Get enough hours of sleep.  Drink more water during the day.  Exercise a little more.

5. Get a PET. Yes, I know, a pet makes demands on your time. BUT studies have shown that people live longer if they have a pet.  When you are out walking your dog, your stress decreases. Petting your dog, cat, ferret, etc. reduces your anxiety.  You give love and get love in return from your pet. 

6. Try to build and maintain a couple of close friendships.  You can from time to time "unload" on a true friend.

7. Decide if a problem before you is important enough to worry about or not. HOW? Decide if this problem will STILL BE A PROBLEM for you after three years have passed.  If yes, then go ahead and worry over it.  If not, set it aside. Close it off in your mind. Imagine a door in your head and close it behind the door. 

8. Here is another THREE for you: if you cannot decide what to do in a certain matter, THINK IT THROUGH THREE SEPARATE TIMES, EACH TIME CHOOSE A DIFFERENT DAY AND A DIFFERENT TIME OF DAY.  If you come to the SAME decision ALL THREE TIMES, then that is the correct answer for you at this time. If not, then WAIT on the decision until you can carry out the THREE TIME THINKING procedure.

9. Take time to read a book by one of your favorite authors; or indulge in one of your hobbies.  No hobby? FIND ONE.  Hobbies will reduce your level of stress and anxiety.

10. Remember to FORGIVE OTHERS AND YOURSELF for mistakes.  Anger builds stress and anxiety in your body.  Did someone hurt your feelings?  Tell that person that you forgive him/her and DO IT.  Harder sometimes is to forgive yourself for your own mistakes in life.  BUT YOU NEED TO COME TO THIS POINT OF FORGIVING YOURSELF.  Work on this each day until you are finally able to do it.
