Information about Blackheads*
WHAT CAUSES BLACKHEADS?
A
black head (technically known as a comedo) is a yellowish, reddish (with white
cap) or blackish bump or plug on a skin. It is caused by an excess of oils that
have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct typically caused by excessive
oil, make up and dirt. The substance found in these bumps mostly consist of
keratin (horny epidermis cells) and modified sebum (oily secretions of the
sebaceous gland).
Factors that cause black heads:
Lack of water in your system. Drink a couple more glasses of water each
day than you usually do and it will improve your skin. It will take a
couple of months to see the improvement, but it will help your acne if you drink
more water.
Excess dead cells blocking the opening to the pore
Excess production of facial oil
Improper cleansing routine, facial oil not being removed
Products / makeup (foundations, sunscreens, and moisturizers) you are using that
may contain too much oil.
